The Care Equation

I have put together many factors that affect our caregiving journey and I have assigned an approximate value to that factor - either positive or negative. This way you can reduce guilt or other's expectations from the equation and better provide the level of care that is a match for you and your loved one.

Interpreting the Results

If your aggregate number is below zero then you are likely to encounter significant difficulty on your caregiving journey making it unsustainable over the longer term. The main area to focus on is to increase your level of support to bring that number up. Also, you can reduce the degree of difficulty by reducing the level of care or, finding more support, either within the family or through adding more resources.

Note: negotiating for more support is KEY to success on the caregiving journey.
